24 on the 24th

Despite what some of my friends told me, I came to work today. The project I was working on, a clubhouse for a seaside development, was due at the end of the month and I just felt I didn’t have the luxury of taking a leave of absence today.

Although at first I felt sorry for myself, I soon forgot about it when I saw my officemates. I usually don’t like calling attention to myself, but it’s so heartwarming to hear people greet you the happiest of birthdays. It’s the only time of the year that you hear people wish the best for you out loud. So in the end, coming to work made it all worthwhile, despite the work that demanded my attention.

My cousin gave me a book entitled ‘Being Happy’ by Andrew Matthews, and a photocopy of another book by the same author. She’s into a lot of self-help and self-improvement stuff lately, but what’s wonderful is that she shares most of these things with other people. I wish I could also do the same for others.

Another one of my closest friends sent me a birthday card. Anyway, the reason I hold this particular friend dear is because our friendship has melted personal differences, and I happy that we stayed friends in spite of. I practically grew up with this friend and experienced a lot of happy and sad things altogether, and in the process I would like to say those things helped us mature for the better. To quote him, "it truly is the strength of our friendship."

Wala lang, I guess I was touched by the card. It's good to hear that he wishes me the best in the world...the best with my loved one.:)
