Diskarteng Marino
Day in and day out, nothing really seems to happen unusual. Ewan ko, with each day I want to talk about career less and less. But that's all that occupies me lately, so, heck. Magiging quiet talaga di ba?
Anyway wala lang, share ko lang yung bagong natutunan ko for today.
Earlier, one of my officemates was sharing that he was trying to court this girl that was around seven years younger than he was. He asked me if that was okay, referring to their age gap I stared at him blankly. This guy was around 5 years older than me! Uh...well. They were both of age. They're single and unattached. I told him yes, it's perfectly all right to pursue the girl.
Anyway, I learned a new phrase from him - Diskarteng Marino. I asked him if he thought the girl had an inkling that he was making the moves. Well...yun yung sinabi niya sa akin - na kapag kumilos sya, diskarteng marino daw. It means he doesn't make it obvious or what.
Another blank stare from me. (Yeah, I've been giving out blank stares lately. Am I that clueless?) Tinanong niya ako kung na-diskartehang marino na ba ako ng kahit sino'ng guy.
Well...a thought to ponder upon. I guess most guys that I dated resorted to that kind of diskarte. Or at least, I acted clueless enough. I don't know. I've always been drawn to guys who seemed shy from the outside, you know, the torpe types.
And besides, most guys naman I know aren't that forward with girls eh. In some respect, I think the typical Pinoy guy isn't as forward as most would like to think. Hehe, I think we have a culture of coyness (in Filipino, 'pakipot') that isn't easil y debunked by today's relatively liberal mindset. I even think that it is encouraged, although most people would shun away that thought. After all, who wants to look conceited and presko in front of other people? Seeking approval is a nature common to everyone. If one would really care about what the other person thinks, he just won't be brazen about his attitudes and feelings, right?
I know I just said a lot of generalizations above, but well...that's my observation. What do you think?
