A barrage of blog entries.

To all the faithful readers of my blog, (Naks. Feeling ko talaga.) I’m really sorry if I haven’t been updating my blog as of the late. I suppose things just got in the way – I became happy, then sad, then busy, then harassed, then… - in short, I got a life. But now I’m glad I finally have a break! Hehe. And I’m getting real work! Yahoo.:D

#1 BAZAAR
Anyway, I never mentioned this before in the blog, but well, somewhere between trying to “work” for the firm and my editing job, my cousin talked me into joining her and her roommates in a bazaar.

This idea wasn’t actually new – we started talking about selling some bags a couple of months back, and then the bazaar idea sprang forth. Eventually, we started adding to the list of things to sell aside from bags.

*What? Who? Me? Sell stuff? C’mon!*

I guess it’s simply because participating in a bazaar as a seller is something I WOULD NEVER have done ON MY OWN. It’s just simply not me. For example, I would never even have thought on my own to sell the things we sold at the bazaar. But those things I never ever buy for myself (and therefore I deemed them ‘hard sell’) were actually the ones that sold like hotcakes. So I guess that’s a lesson learned in vision. You’ll never really know what people want.

Another thing, I am usually not the type of person to take on risks. And I suppose business is very much like gambling, especially if you go off on your own. The chances for winning or losing are equally high.

However, as long as circumstances allow me to, trying out new things is definitely me. I must say, this is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done in ages. Buti na lang I have a cousin who does things that are far from my comfort zone!

There’s Myra in this pic with our wares on display.^^

#2 VIGNETTES FROM THE UP ARKI ALUMNI HOMECOMING
This was last Friday, and needless to say, this was the first alumni homecoming I’ve ever attended as an alumni. The last one I’ve been around for was around a couple of years back, when I was still a sophomore in college. I could remember tracking down the names of the alumni in the directory and asking if they would come to the reunion….

*well, that’s another story*

So, about the alumni homecoming I attended as an alumni, it was simply fun! The homecoming was a blast. I’m glad that many alumni actually attended the homecoming and showed support for the fundraising for the arki building.

Though personally, I still don’t like the building’s location, I like the building so far (at least the building meant to be as an atelier/studio) because of the experience I felt while I was inside the structure. There was this cool ramp that was actually a focal point instead of being relegated to a service area/entrance…from the 2nd floor, it circumvented the entrance/lobby until it made its way to the garden. ….basta astig. I really did not feel the shift in levels as I went from the 2nd floor to the ground floor.

Anyway, at least the older alumni by now should have been aware of the “progress” the construction of the building is currently having.

Going back to the event, it was through this homecoming that I realized how much I missed the UP crowd…in particular, those familiar faces I’ve gotten accustomed to when I was in my lower years in college. Suddenly, I felt like a college freshman once again, and the people in the homecoming seemed all like upperclassmen. Senti! It’s amazing. After all I’ve been through in college, after going through what the upperclassmen have gone through (in college, I must stress), I still feel like a novice around them and simply in awe of their many talents and achievements. And it’s cool…I don’t feel jaded or any feeling of the sort.

And yeah, maraming eyecandy….at least that was what Lesley thought. Ako, I just felt happy to see such familiar faces!

I must also take note of the band. I just noticed they played songs from different eras all through the night. They weren’t actually bad…the guy who sang that night could really do a mean falsetto…hmm…I’m still trying to recall whether that guy sang both portions of the duet song ‘Time of My Life’ from Dirty Dancing.
***
The alumni should have gotten Christian Bautista to sing as well. That would be really cool…an arki alumni actually making it big in another field.^^
***
It was also fun seeing Sir Silvestre in a different light. He's the guy with the semi-curly hair, highlighted with a box. I think he took the ‘coming in your era’ part too seriously.

***
That was also the first time I felt queasy after drinking an alcoholic beverage. Mia managed to filch (hehe) a bottle of red wine from Sir Silvestre’s hands (as she claimed Sir was happily drunk and gave the bottle to her) and offered me and Anna some wine. I drank around half a glass of wine…more like swig… That shouldn’t really be any problem, but the thing was, I still haven’t had any dinner yet.(long story on why I didn’t eat dinner at the homecoming) So by the time Joyce, Anna, Ros, Patt, and I went to McDonald’s for a really late dinner/midnight snack, I just had to rest since I felt really queasy and all.

ASAFifol. Hehe. There’s Tricia, moi, Kons, Anna, Pom, and Lara.

My beloved batchmates! Siyempre HINDI ITO SA NEW ARKI BUILDING. Hehe.^__^ Our yearbook distribution got botched because of ..hay. Anyway, we still had fun even though we were unable to get our yearbooks. I guess that’s me and Carmelle (the girl behind me) at the farthest right. Hehe. Sumingit kasi ako dun sa picture at the last minute!^^

#3 GATEWAY.

Actually, I just wanted to post the pic of the new Gateway mall I took while passing through the Araneta Center. I am reluctant to admit this, but I liked the way how the Big Dome was integrated with the mall. Matino naman siya in fairness, although as a whole I still feel medyo wala sa context nung area yung development…well, anyway, let’s just see how the masterplan for Cubao would fully unfold.

Okay. So tama na muna. Next time I’ll regale you with my office stories. Tata!:D
